David Gizadas

David is the Dean of Engineering and Advanced Manufacturing at Richard J. Daley College and came to Chicago City Colleges from a successful career as an engineer in manufacturing operations.  Most recently David has been the Plant Manager at a highly automated automotive parts manufacturing company producing engine and transmission components for major automotive producers.  Prior to that David was the plant manager at a large format offset printing company producing complex custom printed and assembled educational related products.

 

David worked for 26 years building locomotives for General Motors Electro Motive Division as a Quality Manager, Maintenance Manager, Project Manager, Quality Engineer and Facilities Engineer.  David started his career as a co-op student at GM while attending Purdue University.

 

David is known as a problem solver and leader of cross functional teams to achieve creative solutions to business goals.  He utilizes lean and six sigma problem solving tools to improve processes and facilitate team building which results in improved long term performance for his operations.

 

David received his Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering Technology from Purdue University, his Master’s Degree in Manufacturing Engineering from Northwestern University and his Master’s Degree in Business Management from Northwestern University while working full time as an engineer.
