Come join the Chicago Inventors Organization (CIO) as we invite you to our “What Investors Look For’ workshop on the screening criteria used by investors to select businesses to fund.By understanding each of the key areas that investors react to, you can be better prepared to position your deal to be more attractive.  Perhaps you will be one of the inventors selected to pitch your business product and receive some valuable feedback on how you can prepare yourself better. Speaking will be Heartland Angels Investor Douglas M. Yau, Ph. D, Entrepreneur & Financial Consultant Daniel Grampa and Accountant Albert Riley addressing such topics as:

  • How do investors determine their funds “mandate” as to how to employ capital?
  • How does an investor mandate influence the screening process to “cut through” the tall stacks of submissions?
  • How to best reach out and get their attention to review your opportunity, improve your odds of getting a quality screen?

Douglas M. Yau, Ph. D  is a Scientific Advisor and Investor with Heartland Angels, Inc., a private equity network that brings together accredited investors with early stage start-up companies looking for equity and investments. He has evaluated over 30 startup companies on a voluntary basis to help Heartland Angels, Inc. evaluate investment potential.
 
Daniel Grampa is an entrepreneur possessing corporate finance, new venture creation, strategy, and early stage business development experience gained from various industries including investment banking services, internet, software, PC gaming, healthcare, and consumer packaged goods. He specializes in creative problem solving, business model design, financial modeling and analysis, valuation, and strategy.
 
Albert Riley’s accountancy practice focuses on issues of budgeting & taxation as well as problem solving and managing accounting functions for small to medium sized organizations.
